When was the last time? you saw a frenchman selling onions, from a bicycle ?

It was on the telly - Allo Allo.

But in real life I have never ever seen a Frenchman sell any onions at all.
 
In real life, never, though I have not seen an Australian wearing a "corks" hat either - but I am prepared to accept that maybe some do.

As for our stereotype, I can't recall seeing a man in a business suit and bowler hat carrying a rolled umbrella since about 1974.
