Our kitty is 5 months old and just finished his shots. We are letting him out eventually but I have never owned a cat and don't know how to introduce him. My husband, said that when he had cats, they just let them out and that was that. I'm just worried about the big bad world. He walks on a harness and I have walked him outside before. Any tips? Should we just let him out? How does he know when to come back inside at night? Thanks.

I also work at an animal shelter where I got the kitten and they reccommend never letting cats outside. However, in our situation it is not possible and the cat will be much happier.
