when to have unprotected sex when starting birth control?

I just started using the pill yesterday (Sunday). Doctor told me i can go ahead and have unprotected sex a week (7 days) after taking it. I have heard you have to wait for a month so its in your system, but doctor said its ok? I am really confused right now. lol. i've been with my guy for 2 years and we have never had unprotected sex and we are looking forward to the no condom sex. lol. we have talked about if i get pregnant and he said it doesnt bother him cuz he loves me and all and well so do i. I also read the instructions they gave me at the clinic and it says: "You need to take a second protection with your first week of pills. The pill may not fully protect you from pregnancy the first week."....What do you think?
 
Hi, you might want to wait a month, so that the pill has run through your system and so that you are taking it every day at the same time. Just don't forget to take your pills.
