when the xbox 360 overheats does it turn off but still have the three red lights...

...flashing widely? i was playing cricket on my 360 when it stopped and started flashing the three red lights. i have already have had the rrod and i was wondering if it was just a one of overheating or something worse.
 
no it will stay on and you have to unplug the power cord and let it set of two hours or more. Then take it to a place that fixes xboxs like xbox live will fix it and you have to send it in.
 
the 3 rrod could be associated with the overheating of the xbox which is 2 lights i know this because i've experienced this just this past week yeah and almost always when u turn xbox off then on its really hard to pull off a green light.in a couple of months i will buy a xbox 360 elite which is now $299.99 my xbox miraculously worked with the towel trick during the past year until a week ago when it died completely
