I went a little while ago and they tested due to tiredness and some random symptoms i've been having. They said they checked iron levels, my thyroid and for diabetes. (also some other things like liver, kidney something.. lol)
I didn't fast for it, now my question is that would they have checked for everything diabetes and hypoglycemia wise??
I am not even sure if they test for hypoglycemia?
I also heard that the blood test is not good enough to check your thyroid and you still might have thyroid problems? I was told that by someone I know whos doctor missed it for years, and he ended up in hospital and got some expensive test which finally told them it was something wrong with their thyroid and he got treatment and got better.
So now I am wondering if these general scan-everything blood tests are even any good?
So my other question is that why have I never had to fast for a test? Do they only make you do that to double check you have something wrong with your blood sugar levels or should I be getting one. They have given me this general blood test 3 times now, and each time told me it was to check why I was tired, anemia, thyroid and diabetes are mentioned. All 3 times nothing has come up that needs to be fixed.
I am just wondering if they are missing it by not making me fast or advising me how/what to eat before the test, diabetes wise, and if the test would 'catch' hypoglycemia, as I was just reading about it and have symptoms of that. But I would like to know if it is ruled out because the last blood test was last month so it can't be.
