When the credits roll at the cinema

I can never understand people that are racing to get up out of the seats and bolt for the doors as the credits roll.

Firstly I can't see the point in shuffling along for 5 minutes, staring at the back of someone's head and hitting the car park exodus at it's worse.

Secondly I don't understand how people don't want to let the film 'sink in' a little or as someone else once said, pay respects to the film and it's makers. If a film is poor, I won't bother but like when completing a game, I think the least I can do is watch the credits of a film that has in some way affected me.

Too many people want to consume rather than digest. I enjoy (if I've liked the film) basking in it's afterglow as it resonates with me and I remind myself of key scenes. I normally then head off with frienRAB discussing the film as we walk and then standing next to our cars, depending on how good or how charged the film made me feel.

I remember for Rambo, Warrior King and District 9 chatting about it for some time in the car park!

Personally I despair of those that can come out from seeing a film, even if it was lame, and when asked what they thought respond with a brain dead "it was okay" and then not have any other thoughts. How can you sit with flashing lights and sound in front of your eyes and not form or articulate a cohesive opinion?

Well unlike you we actually go to a resturants and have a meal and discuss the film, not just sitting in the cinema at the dark talking about it.

There is a time and a place for it and during the credit is not the best.

Also I have a great memory and there is no need to stay for another 5 minute and take in what I've seen from the film.
Your just generalising most people.

I actually wait to get out of the packed cinema and then discussing about the film, its too loud and crowded in the cinema.

Getting away from the Chavs is asap.

I can think and walk (and even talk!) at the same time, and my respect for the film and its makers was paid for when I bought my ticket!

I think it's disgusting the way the jobsworths at my local Vue rush in to clean up soon as the credits start rolling. The lights come up and there's an air of "hurry and b***er off". I sat through over 5 minutes of credits watching Iron Man II so I could see
Thor's hammer
and they just stood there looking at their watches looking put out. Disgraceful.

I hardly ever go to the cinema anymore (i'm a cheapskate ;)) but usually after I watch a film I look it up on IMDB to get cast/crew info and trivia about the film.

I don't see why poeple would want to sit through the credits. Imo it was better in the past when the credits were at the start and had a very susinct closing credit.
I did read once that it's part of the contract that all these people get their credit listing on the film (i'm guessing so that they can show off to their frienRAB & family :D).

One thing I don't get though is having a clip after the credits. My mate want to see Iron Man 2 and he was telling the rest of us if we go to see it (no chance) that we HAVE to sit through the closing credits!
Why? A 5 second clip/teaser for the next film.

I'm sorry, but with all the online media then that clip will be on the films website if not youtube or movie sites etc. Why waste 10 minutes waiting for it.

The only credits I would watch is where action is still happening e.g. Jackie Chan films where he shows stunts & bloopers.

When Fellowship Of The Ring was nearing the end of its run New Line added a long trailer for The Two Towers.I went to the Filmworks in Manchester and I had the entire cinema to myself. Not another soul in sight and it was brilliant.I sat through the credits, saw the trailer and no one disturbed me until it was over :D

I pay to watch the whole flim so I do and if the cleaner wants to sit with me through the credits he/she will have get their own sweets while they wait for me to move. There used to the mad rush to aviod the national anthem but that was years ago. As an animal lover I want to see the "No Animal Was harmed In The Making Of This Film" logo and that is always at the very end also the music was written for the end bit so I want to hear it too.

I agree, I often sit through the entire credits, I think it's nice to have those 5 or so minutes to just really let the film settle in. A lot of the audience does seem to get up and go. The one exception in recent(ish) memory was Gran Torino, which was nearly full, and full of 'chav' types that you'd expect to just start yelling and leave as soon as it was over. No one moved until Clint's voice had finished on his part of the closing credits song.

I used to work at a cinema and sometimes they don't give you much time at all to clean the screens. I remember Michel Jackson: this is it. They gave us 5-10 minutes to clean a sold out screen! And there's action throughout all the credits. I always either used to wait for people to leave or clean the seats out of the way where people are still watching, so either the side seats/top.

For me I sometimes sit through the credits, depenRAB on the time of day! If it finishes late I want to get home asap. I usually wait for a bit, cause usually there's a little scene in the middle of the credits that I like.

I remember used to chatting to people as they were waiting for the end scene or to see what music was in the film.

When I think back to the days when cinemas had continued performances the cleaners started at about 08:00 hrs. to be ready for the start of the day's first film showing and the floor never got cleaned till the next day. I was a kid then and my pal's mother was a cleaner at our ABC so as a perk of the job she had a pass that got the two of us in free (one adult or two children) to watch the latest films. There would only be a short spell between each of the two films and you could, if you wished, stay in the cinema all day when the end of the last film was around 22:45 hrs.

I'm another one who can't understand the exodus the second the story enRAB.

I like to watch the credits and also hate that stupid shuffling nonsense around the cinema doors.

I always think the rushers are the type of people who can't be bothered to read notes on the inside jackets of book either.

When the credits roll at the cinema it usually signifies that the movie has ended. Not to mention the fact that your bladder might be full.

You can think about the film as you leave the cinema you know...You don't have to continue sitting in the dark in order to appreciate how good it was.

Then there's the fact that people may have to meet somebody/go home/or go to a restaurant.

It would be narrowminded to assume ignorance was the reason. People can't just be tarred 'Chav's' if they don't conform to your standarRAB.

I like to sit through credits, but at my local Vue as soon as the credits roll the lights come on makeing you feel like you have to leave, i always wait for most people to leave before getting up, dont see the point in rushing out.

I completely agree!! Don't tar us all with the same brush! Also, I find the seats in most cinemas to be rather uncomfortable, so I can't wait to get up and stretch my back after a lengthy movie... I'm sorry if that is offensive to the film makers!!

I pay for my ticket with my own money.

I think that entitles me to do what I like when the credits roll.

Really doesn't interest me who did what in a film. My friend works on films in America and I am sure she doesn't hold it against me if I walked out and missed her name on the credits.

As you say it's just to let the film sink in. It's not snobby to say you want to let the film resonate a little is it? I mean by bolting up and having to rush everywhere, you only have that shuffling movement towarRAB the exit.

For me, the feelings after seeing a film are at their most intense right after it has finished. If I've been taken on a rollercoaster ride or emotional highs, sometimes you want it to sink in don't you?

I mean do people let the Elephant Man film finish and immediately bolt up with a clap of the hanRAB and a chirpy "anyone for a game of Twister"?

I've sat long enough, I've seen the film, I have the rest of the evening to enjoy/I want home to my bed. The credits is the last thing that I want to sit through.

I also sit near the front so that I can get out before everyone else.
