When should I buy my college textbooks?

I went to my school's website and there was the list of books that are required/recommended for each class. I will be a freshman next year and I would like to be able to look over my textbooks before classes start, so I can know what I am getting into (classes are biology, chemistry, psychology, calculus). But is it a good idea to buy them ahead of time? what if my professor's change thier mind on what books they will use? do they even do that?

Also, where can I buy books online from a reliable source?

is AWESOME, they check a bunch of different sites for you!
so look there for the cheapest price but also check out B&N-used and amazon to compare and then you'll have super cheap books!!
I haven't spent over a 100 yet.
