ill be fine, coolant lasts a long time, and you dont need to change your oil that much, the dealer just wants you to bring it in more so he gets more money.

I'm not sure exactly when honda requires you to get your coolant changed, but you have a long way to go. Go to service at your local honda dealership and talk to a service advisor. They should have a pamphlet listing all your maintenance requirements that will keep your warranty intact. Like I said, you have a long way to go. The coolant in my toyota corolla is good for 100,000 miles. Hope this helps.

I have a 2009 honda fit. I dont want to touch the engine of my car or do any maintenance on it and afraid of causing any damage, as I've had really bad luck with past cars, as well as limited knowledge.

Im planning to go to vegas and back tommorow, which is around 500 miles each way, I have about 2300 miles on the car - should i be worried or will it be okay? The dealer said oil change should be at 5k, but im not sure about the coolant...nobody seems to give me a general estimate of when more coolant should be added,

You should check the coolant reservoir and make sure its filled to the proper level. As for changing it, I think the dealer is required to do it otherwise you might void the warranty. You should have a maintenance book that came with your car that would tell you at what recommended mileage it should be changed.

anti freeze/coolant should only have to be checked once a year and lasts much longer than that. It should not be touched anyway for its hot and can be very dangerous only thing you should do before your trip is change the oil and make sure all tires are properly inflated all the same psi about 32 depending on the tires standards the oil change only because your nearing the recomended 3000mile oil change witch it shouldnt have to be changed until you return from your trip
