When should i apply for financial aid ?

I a not talking about the FASFA but about the financial aid that school's themselves offer. Should i apply when applying for school or after getting accepted for one.

you need to file for fafsa. thats how schools determine what to give you. the only way you get it is if you file the fafsa. schools give aways scholarships too. which are also based off of fafsa. so the moral is you need to file fafsa so that they can determine how much aid you need. the government doesnt decide. the school does. it just comes from the government or state.

Filling out the FASFA is the main thing to do. Without it you cant get loans, grants, or state scholarships. The funding that the schools offer is from the FASFA. All funding from the school comes from your FASFA information. Then you need to fill out your school's independent or dependent form and send them your tax information from last year and your parents if you are dependent. Anything other than this would be like an essay scholarship or some other kind of outside scholarship that will each have its own set deadline. The sooner you fill out everything, the more priority you have and the more money you will get.
