When saluting outdoors?

I have some questions about saluting outdoors. I don't want to mess up in rotc and get yelled at.

1) Do I salute the Captain outdoors when we are both in PT uniforms?
2) Do I salute the Captain outdoors in university campus when he is in uniform and I'm in civilian clothing?
