wiemercats; yet you don't see any issue with the USA supplying Iraq with weapons during their war with Iran? Despite some of those weapons being sarin & tabun nerve gas? So it's ok for the USA to supply anyone it sees fit to, but Iran can't? Also, please cite ONE credible source that proves Iran is supplying arms to anyone fighting the USA.

Way to generalize the event, and to gloss over the details behind it.

On the day that Iran Air Flight, a helicopter escorting a US vessel near the site of the future tragedy was fired upon and harrassed by Iranian vessels. Briefly after this, the Iran Air Flight 655, a civilian airliner, approached the area of the firefight, flying in a pattern that very closely resembled a Tomcat (military). Not only that, but it was later discovered that the civilian flight had departed from an airport used to launch both civilian flights and Tomcats. The Iranian government, of course, grossly distorted the circumstances of the tragedy, which is a classic example of how that kind of radical religious mentality approaches combat. First, they make it difficult for a second party to distinguish between a civilian and a military target---usually by combining the military with civilian life (in this case, by opening fire in the vincity of a civilian flightpath--which Iranian authorities should have known was such, but not necessarily the US crew-- and using the same airport to launch civilian and military aircraft), then--if a civilian gets hurt--they consider it a great PR benefit---alledging that their enemy delibrately targets civilians, exc.
