When people have weird/morbid dreams, does it mean there is something wrong with...

...them mentally? For example, if they dream of dead bodies and other gross things on a regular basis.
Wouldn't that mean they are subconsciously thinking of morbid things while awake?

I'm no expert but I don't think that means there's anything mentally wrong with you. I have had a morbid dream before and I don't have mental issues. Just a thought, but maybe you watched alot of crime TV or watched a scary movie. I know if I watch a show like "First 48" or any other true crime shows I have weird thoughts and dreams. More like fears, so I don't think you should worry.

no. ive taken so many psychology courses and it means nothing.

dreams are pretty much snapshots of thoughts, things youve seen, even things people have said to you and you've said all throughout the day. what happens is when you're sleeping, your brain tries to organize things. the human mind thrives off of organization and making sense of things that might not even relate to each other. if you have seen a scary movie, been thinking about weird things, even saw a quick picture of something morbid or heard a reference, it is stored in your mind. and at night, everything that happened during the day, the past week, anything stored in your brain is organized. and the outcome is sometimes confusing, upsetting, funny, surprising, etc.

so, no. unless you do morbid things or have morbid emotions during the day, i would say you have a perfectly normal functioning brain.
