When people argue over what ended the depression, the New Deal or World War II..?

aren't they just debating on which form of massive government spending worked?
Kyrix, you actually got my question.. good for you.

What I'm saying is, funding war is government spending.

No..............The New Deal actually made the depression last a whole lot longer. It was WWII that pulled this Country out of the depression.

In WWII, a need was created that spurred demand. The New Deal, meanwhile, didn't have a need but the government spent everyone's money on lower- priority items then had everyone just kept their money. Big difference. Truth be told, the Great Depression was mostly stopped by time, but had Hoover and FDR just done nothing and avoided meddling in everyone's affairs, it wouldn't have been a depression.

The war did one other thing it took a lot of men into the military. This eliminated the high unemployment that had been part of the depression. Either way it resulted in massive government spending.
