When JFK visited Berlin in the early 1960's he declared "Ich Bin Ein Berliner"?

meaning "I am also a Berliner" in reference to the Berlin Wall & how the east Germans were oppressed by communism, but we are now told by German Speaker that a "Berliner" is a type of Doughnut,
So just WHAT should JFK have said to show solidarity and relate to the people of Berlin ?
