when is the time to port my number in Cricket?

I ordered a new phone and a new monthly plan on Cricket web. In second email they sent to me, they gave me a new nuraber. I would like to port my current nuraber from Pageplus to this new phone, but during the order process, I did not get any option to do so.
I am wondering that should I call the CS to port my nuraber BEFORE or AFTER I activate the phone? Thanks!
 
when you get the phone, call from a different phone line, and they can do it, the nuraber they gave you can be used as a temporary nuraber. just make sure that you get all the information right! thats the most part!!! every little nuraber and letter has to be perfect, if one little digit doesn't match, then they hold it up for waaaay longer than needed... otherwise the porting process only should take 10 minutes to like and hour or two at most, thats if their are no problems.
 
I ported my nuraber on Saturday at around 8:00pm. Within a few hours my old account was inactive but they haven't activated the nuraber on my new phone. It seems like the porting department is not open on sunday, so I'll have to wait till Monday to figure out what happened. In total if I get it working tomorrow, it will have taken 48 hours to port a nuraber. With sprint it took 15 minutes. Not too impressed.
 
My phone will arrive tomorrow. Let's see.

I just have another question:
what date is the Cricket billing cycle start date, is the day I placed order, or the day I activate the phone?
 
The billing cycle is usually the day before you activate the phone, but I'm not sure with phone/web sales. An example if I actiavte a customers phone today 3/29, their billing date would be the 28th of every month. Someone correct me if I"m wrong, but don't phone/web order phones come already active. All you so is dial *228.
