well i just got the bmx bike on christmas and the frame is too heavy. its like 13 lbs then add on the tires and other stuff. my step dad says its way too soon to just go and buy a new frame for it but its way too heavy! them wal-mart bmx bikes are really crappy. he said if i had some magical way to make enough money then i can get a new frame, but i cant work because im only 14. so if you can give me some ideas also on the money situation ill be really great full.
i need to make about $150-$300, so if anyone know how to make that much money you are a life saver.
-oh yea i dont have a credit card if you need to know
well first of all im just starting to do bmx

second of all i didnt take it apart to weigh it my friend just estimated
oh yea...it doesnt snow very much where i live and plus all the kids who live around here are over 11 years of age & dont need babysitters [most ppl dont trust others]

well its a walmart bike so i'd just return the whole thing. for the pice of that frame u could get a cheap but good bike at danscomp.com ,obviously u dont have a credit card ur 14.
im 14 too and just bought a $1600 bike with my own money, money that i worked for. i mow lawns and house sit. i know ur a gurl but tough it up and mow the goddamn lawn.well if u cant babysit or anything ask ur neighbors or something if u can do housework, fold clothes, wash clothes, make beds that kinds crap

hope i helped, good luck with whatever u do

1st answer is right about the frame none weigh that much and I know you didn't take it apart to weight it either.

But at 14 you are old enough to work. I did. Baby sitting actually pays pretty well. Snow shoveling etc can be done now, raking, mowing etc in spring. You can even collect returnables from your neighborhood. Pass out flyers in your area stating you can do these things.

I don't think BMX frames would weigh that much, even if its steel. The best way to weigh your bike, is with a bathroom scale; weigh yourself first, then weigh yourself holding the bike without touching the ground and close to your body. Subtract your weight from the weight with the bike to get the bike's weight.

I do agree though, wal-mart does have crappy bikes. The really best option is go ahead and try riding it, and perhaps sell it to someone on craigslist and make up the difference. Since I assume you're just starting out riding, go ahead and use what you got and when you're more experienced, you can find the right kind of bike for you.
