Really, this series is so bloody FANTASTIC! So far, at least. Dead Man's Chest is the ultimate sequel with all the darkness and the cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers. I found that SOME people were disappointed with it because they went into it thinking it was going to be a comedy (due to the way Johnny Depp's performance as Jack Sparrow has kind of become the stuff of legend even though the first movie was only three years ago!).
People just don't understand that this is how big movies are meant to be made. I think many moviegoers have forgotten what it's like to watch a truly great blockbuster with performances, script and story that actually match the loud bangs and effects. This trilogy will be remembered alongside Indiana Jones and Star Wars, and yeah Lord of the Rings as well I suppose, even though LotR is more serious. It's actually cool how all these series' are connected through actors - Harrison Ford in Star Wars then Indiana Jones, John Rhys-Davies in Indy and then LOTR, Orlando Bloom in LOTR and now Pirates.

You think? I think DMC could have used some serious editing, and the majority of that was from painfully long action scenes. The movie meandered, and several of the set-pieces went on way too long, and lost momentum because of it. As a middle chapter, it attempted to follow the example of Empire, but got a little too caught up in itself and missed the mark. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was an enjoyable movie, but it felt like the opportunity to build on the scale of COTBP was squandered on self-indulgence and budget burning sequences.
