when is apple gonna realease a new update for the ipod touch?

ive been trying to get apps but they all say to get a new update but i don't want to get it because i know that as soon as i get it apple is gonna release a newer version and ima look like a total idiot because that's what apple does does anyone known when they are releasing a new one just so i can be sure
