When is a good time to test?

I am supposed to have my period on Oct 1st, so when is the earliest I could take a test and it pop up positive?? I would rather wait the longest I can to take a test so it has the accurate results. Should I just wait till my period is due and if it doesn't come take it? Or should I wait a week after period is supposed to come?

Sorry so many questions :O) I've heard ppl taking a test before their missed period and it came back negative even though they were pregnant.
I have been having extermely sore breasts, which doesn't happen to me ever unless I am pregnant, soo sleepy, headaches, queasy, not hungry, backaches and a weird sensation in my stomach, and NO it's not in my head. I wasn't even thinking of getting pregnant and these symptoms popped up out of nowhere. Been feeling like this for about 2 weeks now :O) Thought it was the flu but I was wrong. Hoping for a strong positive.....

I also heard about everyone getting positives early, but that didn't happen for me. I took 11 tests over the last week, all were negative. I didn't get a positive until the day af was due. So i would wait until you're due, but i know how hard that can be.
