when I'm cooking my smoke alarm goes off and my 6 year old male boston terrier goes COMPLETLEY BESERK!! he goes and grabs the kitchen towel before I can because the first time that the smoke alarm when off he went crazy and saw me grab the kitchen towl to go fan the smoke alarm, so the other times that the smoke alarm goes off he runs to the towl before i can an completley shreds it into tons of small peices, so i put the kitchen towl somewere else after the second time it happend, but now whenever he smells smoke his ears get proped up and he runs to were the kitchen towl used to be and he stands up on his hind legs looking for it,.,. why does he do this???????
 
Smoke alarms are annoying to humans, imagine how irritating it would be on a dogs ears... they are a LOT more sensitive, he has just learned that the kitchen towel means that the smoke alarms stops so he is trying to turn it off.... he wouldnt understand that it doesn't work that way...

Maybe you should try moving your smoke alarm away from the kitchen...
