when I turn on my 2000 lincoln navigator it drives fine for about 10 or 15 miles

then it starts to shift rough? could it be because of the shift solenoid or could the alternator maybe have something to do with it because the lights have recently been dimming on the speedometer and radio. If anyone knows any tricks or things I could do to it or anything that might help me out I would really appreciate it. Thanks
