When i turn my ignition off on my 1986 chevy truck the radio still drains the battery?

radio will not come on while the key is out but its still pulling juice from the battery.. i can tell because i unhook the radio and the battery will have a small spark on the cables i believe its normal to have a small spark.but when i hook up the radio wires and check the terminal to the battery again it has a decent sized spark.the ignition is new and the wireing is new . i had this cd player in another car and it did the same thing.. any i thing i can do or is it the radio
i have it wired right i have put in radios before i made sure whicj was the constant hot and which was the ignition hot.. and on the radio the wires are labeled which is constant and which is ignition
also i am wanting to have it set right so it remembers my presets for my stations etc.
tes it is digital
 
If your radio is the digital type then it probably has a clock. Or anywhere else on the car dash there is a clock. They always need some juice to keep the time. That is the power draw. If you throw a toggle switch in the power wire line(red) that should kill the radio clock draw as well. But the microamount of juice it is drawing, the car would have to be parked for a year or more(by then the battery has sulfated the plate anyways without a fresh charge to burn off the sulfate.) Not to worry.
 
most likely the way you go tit wired but sure it could be the radio as well or even the battery weak
