When I save gif images they never appear. Is there a way to convert them to to jpg...

...before saving? Adding .jpg rather than .gif doesn't work by the way. when i right click and click on "view image", it doesn't even show. I also can't convert it once i've saved the image because all that appears is the "non-image" that got saved.
I use Nero Photosnap Viewer. Is that helpful?
