When I have a photo taken of my back, why do I look so wide?

Apparently I'm thin but if a photo is taken of my back, I look huge! And the back of my head is hideous too. Am I just being too overanalytical? I get so paranoid people are looking at my wide back : (
 
Wide angle lenses distort a lot.

Most people who use P&S cameras, shoot at wide angle settings, so noses, chins and other attribute become exaggerated. The same may have happened in the depiction of your back.
