When I go to "fill path" on photoshop, it fills what is outside of the shape I made?

I made a closed object in photoshop with the pen tool, and it was working fine when I went to fill the path, but suddenly it started filling everything AROUND the object instead of the inside of the shape itself. I'm sure it is a simple fix, but I can't seem to figure it out. Anyone got any suggestions?
No, the path is definitely closed. I'm on the right layer, and there is no mask on the layer.
