depends, yes if your a gomer pile and no if your a joker. as that movie showed the recruits who needed attention got it, because they need to be soldiers and more squared away, and potential saftey risk. While the recruits who were more squared away and were un-assed. Where more left alone.( as much as one can be in basic)

Well, if you're talking about Marine boot camp (which is in Full Metal Jacket) then it'll be very tough, both mentally and physically.
Don't rely on movies to prepare you for boot camp. It's much harder than you think it is.
Any branch of the military has a tough boot camp/basic training. Some are just harder than others.

The DIs aren't allowed to hit you or any thing like that. Some things are the same, but a lot has changed. Of course it's been a while since I was there. So I'm sure things changed since than to. I went through boot in '96. Although when I was there we did ran around in are undie with our rifle shouting THIS MY RIFLE, THIS IS MY GUN like they did in the movie. We also said the Rifleman's Prayer before we hit the rack. SEMPER FI
