When I am replacing a car stereo, how do i know which wires to connect?

I am trying to replace my car stereo... the head unit. i already bought the harness... but how do i know which wires to connect together? do i match up the colors? do i connect all the wires?
thanks for the help guys...

what do i do with the wires that are not connected to anything? do i need to put a cap on them or something? wouldn't they have a charge?
