When hair grows fast

What does it mean when your hair grows fast? I am cutting it short nowdays, for a particular look, and in almost 2 months I feel like it grew an inch or inch and half. What does that mean, when hair grows fast?
 
I and others I know have noticed that when you cut your hair, it seems to stimulate more growth of it. Leaving it uncut will slow the growth down. I had cut my hair short years ago for the last time and grew about eight inches in a year. I have not cut it since and have only grown a couple of inches a year.

My husband cuts his every month or two and it grows about as much as yours has.

Mines growing really fast lately as well. I cut it about two months ago and it's already grown about 5 inches. O.O I need to cut it again. LOL It's weird b/c I have hypothyroidism and normally it grows very very slowly. And it was long to begin with, now it's half down my back again!
