When guys say they are more into sport more than a girl, what does that truly mean?

Okay, I am a fourteen year old girl and I have asked this guy who he likes and he says no one, that he is more into hockey right now. Come on he is fourteen! He has to have a crush right? Or am I just crazy and guys don't think about girls' beauty at all? Enlighten me.
 
Maybe he just prefers hockey!

Apparently boys are 2 or 3 years less mature than girls so maybe that explains it.

Or maybe he's embarrassed?
 
Not necessarily. Its possible that he's gay, or that he really just doesn't have an interest in any particular girl at this point in time.

I'm sure he notices girls, but he isn't into them yet. He likes hockey and the thrill of the game, so leave him alone. He will find girls soon enough.
