i could be wrong on this, but i didn't know they charged based on size of the dog. i have a small maltese, which is a very hairy dog, and he is $40. It takes a lot longer to bath, dry, and brush him than a bigger dog with much shorter hair. Also, I keep my maltese's coat long, which requires using scissors and not just clippers. This costs more too. cutting fingernails from a tiny dog is also a pain in the behind and can cost more than cutting the nails of a larger dog.
