When fishing for bluefish and striped bass?

What is a preffered LURE. Not bait.

However, are clams a good bait for either of these fish? If so, do you rest it on the bottom or float it somewhere in the middle?

And throw in any other tips you have :)

l don't think clams are a preferred bait or food for bluefish. not too sure about stripers either. but stripers do pick up nightcrawlers off the bottom in fresh water, so who knows?
l really believe you would have much better luck casting lures such as bucktails and diamond jigs or large kastmasters.

Wormist has good suggestions. I would also pick up some broken-back rebels. Clams will catch you catfish, that is the only fish I know of in my area that will go for clams.
