When do I use my blinker while pulling out of a parallel parking spot?

I am taking my road test in a few days. I wanted to make sure I got this right so I don't get any points taken off.

When pulling out of the spot, do I put the blinker on right before I start backing up? Or after, right before I start pulling forward?


Also, I'm nervous if I have to do it while a car is coming behind me. If that happens, what should I do?
