When do I apply for college? And what's the deal with financial aid?

I was supposed to be a junior this coming year, but then a bunch of stuff happened and it turns out, 09-10 will be my senior year. I'm a little confused, everyone seems to know what's going on but me. My guidance councilor was completely unhelpful when I had access to him, by the way.

So, I know that I want to go to SUNY ESF... I visited it, got a bunch of information. But when am I supposed to apply?

Also, how do I apply for scholarships or financial aid? Or even find out if I'm qualified?

check the SUNY ESF web site. Most deadlines are January 1st. for going to college Fall of 2010.
After you apply to college you will need to fill out the FAFSA by (I think) March 31st. After you are accepted the college will send you out a financial package. For scholarship from the college direct, check their web site. Some you will have to fill out a separate form, some just by applying you are considered. If you qualify they will let you know.
You need to apply to more than one college. What if you don't get in? Applying to at least 4/5 colleges gives you options.

check out your public library for information on colleges. The magazine Kaplans Newsweek How To Get Into College 2009 is very helpful
