When did you start letting your child ride in the front seat of the car?

I know how the car is marked "The safest place for children 12 and under is in the backseat." So, I'm not asking that.
I've seen some 12 and even 15 year old that weigh 85 lbs- the same as some 10 and 11 year olds. So I know the age suggested is a guideline.

When did you, personally, let your child ride in the front seat?
My eldest was 7 when I started letting her ride in the front through town (going 25 to 35 mph) but I still do like for her to sit in the back if we are going on the interstate (70 pmh) and she's 11.
William, I asked for the answers. I'm not giving a thumb down on my own questions. lol
 
I do 13 years and at least 5'2" because that's the height for the air bag in my car. Even without an airbag, I'd rather have my child hit their head on the back of a soft seat than on the hard dashboard.

Technically, if I were shorter than that height, I wouldn't be safe to drive my own car, although I'm old enough to purchase one. I'd need my airbag turned off.

The safest place for any passenger is the back seat, so why risk that? The one thing I'm really anal about is car safety. Think of how guilty you'd feel if your ten year old died in a crash because he was hit in the face with an airbag, or hit his head on the windshield? I'll avoid that and deal with the annoyed sighs from him any day of the week.
 
I started letting her ride at 6. The law says 6 or 60 pounds. Que thumbs down.

Sorry I just see the overprotective crazies on here and I just know they are going to give me thumbs down for that. I bet some of them wait until they get their learners permits. lol.

Dont people realize that their child has a better chance of developing alcoholism, depression, autism, and being molested and god only know what else than being killed in a car accident.

BUT IF IT CAN ONLY SAVE 1 LIFE IT IS WORTH IT. LOL.
