...after purchase. Read on...? This question's been asked in different ways by other people before. But I haven't read a single answer that seems to point at the true reason.
So I will get some things out of the way first. Read them before you answer:
This has happened several occasions over the last couple of months or so.
The pork was bought from different stores in different towns and is from different sources.
This is fresh pork, not frozen. It is way before the sell-by date. Stored for a couple of days in a really good refrigerator before cooking it as a roast.
The meat is clean and fresh looking. It doesn't smell bad before cooking.
It doesn't taste bad after cooking.
This only happens while cooking.
It's been cooked in two different ovens. Both ovens are very clean
SO... you can rule out old and bad meat, and meat from a bad source.
I know that if you feed pigs on apples, the pork tastes of apples.
I also know that if you mess around with food supplements or, worst case, genes, you can see some side effects you hadn't planned on.
I have read up on this and there seems to be more of it happening nowadays, I'd like your take on the possibilities of the cause being one or more of the following:
1 what the pigs were fed on.
2 anything else done to the pigs before slaughtering them.
What do you think?
