...state off of our backs? And the ideologies that support this primitive institution.

I'm tired of hearing about how crazy, stupid and potentially dangerous my fellow man is. I am tired of the excuse that we need to create an institution with monopoly power on "legitimate" violence and the provision of laws to save us from our savage nature when said institution is comprised of these very same humans.

If people are evil we shouldn't have a state because the worst people in the world will be drawn to its power and if people are benevolent then we surely don't need a state. The truth is people respond to incentives and the state provides a very dangerous set incentives to be sure.

5,000 years of state failures, hundreds of millions victims of democide and people think this institution keeps them safe and establishes any kind of lasting order?

It's worth thinking of alternatives isn't it? Is this the best we can do?
