I have a freind, A former Marine, who thinks that himself (and everyone else) should pretty much go camping with nothing but a knife, and make everything they need from pine cones and tree branches. He scoffs at everything even slightly technological, cooks on a flat rock, tries to make us all eat grubs and plant shoots, and sleep in beds made of tree boughs. I have no problem with someone knowing how to do these things, in a survival situation, but I go camping to relax, and spend some quiet time in nature. I dont feel I have to be Euell Gibbons on every campout. Sometimes, I take my portable dvd player, or mp3 player to catch up on a movie or two, or listen to some music by myself, in my tent on my sleeping pad. I take some propane powered appiances to cook with or create heat and light, Is that so bad?
