I saw my neurosurgeon today and asked him why my lurabar spine pain has disappeared and is it connected to the intermittent loss of bowel and bladder function. He won't know until he sees my MRI but warned me....

"Long term back or neck pain that goes away and stays away for no reason can be a sign that it is getting too late to fix it".

When I saw him for my neck problems 4 years ago I had no pain then either and was very close to paralysis. I'm hoping I haven't made the same mistake with my lurabar spine and that the lack of pain is form the weight loss and exercises I have done.

I'll know soon. But I thought I'd post his warning for all here. No pain can feel nice but can be a very bad sign. It neeRAB to be checked out ASAP.

llosing weight and exercising can do alot towarRAB suspending back pain...especially if it was a large amount of weight. Extra weight can really make your back irritable....but for now we'll hope that the pain loss isn't a sign of degeneration.

Yes, I'm hoping the weight loss(only 20 pounRAB) and core exercises have been the cause but I'm very suspicious it's the stenosis...the loss of pain was almost overnight, not slowly as I lost and exercised.

That was what my doc's warning was about. If it goes away for "no reason" then it could be you've gotten to the point where the stenosis is cutting off the blood supply sufficiently to stop pain signals from going to the brain but still allowing your muscles to function.

In my neck, I had 4 levels of cord compression with my cord down to half thickness(6mms.). I had no pain. I had pain for years and years and it went away. I didn't care why it went away, just glad it did. But all I did was lift one shovelful of snow too many and I suddenly went nurab from the neck down for a second. I knew I was in big trouble just from that split second of nurabness. And that was when I got an MRI and my world turned upside down. I was slowly becoming paralyzed.

Now to find out if my lurabar spine is in the same shape as 2 years ago(last MRI) showed it was okay but trouble was brewing.

Just a warning on losing the pain.

Thanks IBake&Pray................Jenny
