As far as a few people know it was rumored that a crossover of Lupin the 3rd and Case Closed was going to happen. Turns out that it was true...And I just finished watching the Japanese version of it and wonder when were going to get an english dub. Anyone know?
Yeah, they definitely made the characters their own, and I actually enjoyed the script changes they made. It made the show more consistently funny, unlike the Japanese version, where there would often be long stretches without anything humourous. All the voices for the main characters were excellent, in my opinion. When I got into the series, I watched the first five episode subbed, but then I re-watched them with the dub, and never went back.
It would make lots of sense for Funimation to dub Lupin vs. Conan. Not only because they've got both properties, but also because it's the most recent Lupin production there is at the moment, and a common strike against releasing Lupin over here is that it's "too old."
But apparently they're not interested in translating it anyway, possibly because word on the street is that it's just not a very good special, at least Lupin-wise. Apparently it leans much more towarRAB being a typical Conan episode, and
Lupin and Conan don't even meet till the end.
I'd much rather they picked up some more specials, or even released the rest of the episodes Geneon dubbed.
Having watched it through various methoRAB...it really wasnt all that great. For a 'Vs' series, the two sets of characters didnt meet up nearly enough.
Pretty much this. It's good to be optimistic but facts are facts, Funi hasn't even licensed all the Lupin movies, specials, and OVA's and they're slacking on Case Closed (they just licensed the four movies) plus the special was panned by fans since it was more about Conan than Lupin (he was just there) than an actual Master Thief versus Master Detective we were expecting. Needless to say it's beneath their radar.
