My best friend is 24yrs old. This "problem" started around the time we met in Highschool. Its his legs (or possibly spine?).
He has trouble standing, his legs will go weak and he'll fall over.. and its getting pretty severe. Lately he's been needing help getting up, and than someone has to hold him for him to regain his balance. He has an "intense" shooting/stabbing pain that goes up his legs and spine and sometimes all the way up to his neck. Othertimes the pain is only in his legs/back.
He has been to 4 doctors, and a specialist. He has had several MRI's of his back/neck/legs/feet and they found nothing. His doctor has been telling him that he will be in a wheelchair before he's 30 - but how can his doc say that without being able to give a clear answer as to why its happening at all???
Our friend was born with a condition called "club foot" which was corrected surgicly when he was a toddler. Which didn't help much -- his feet still bother him, and are still slightly deformed, but the doc assures him and his GF that that is NOT what is causing his pain or being unable to stand.
So my question is... what else can we do for him?? All of his friends and family are rallying for him. We are willing to take him across the world if it means an answer.. and possibly a treatment!
Does anyone have any good advice?
