Wheel Spacers Unsafe for Sports Cars?

I hear that wheel spacers are very unsafe for cars, especially fast sports cars like the nissan gtr.

if so, how can they even sell these "super unsafe" accessories?

how exactly is it unsafe?

I was thinking about putting the wheelspacers on the GTR, is that really a bad investment? how would it mess up the car?
