What'ya think about Republicans plans to let big Insurance regulate itself?

Is this another Republican Joke? Is this like most of the other policies Republicans have had to offer--Jokes? Their idea of reform in Insurance is to let Insurance handle it. The same way they thought it was fine for Wall Street and Banks to just regulate themselves they now think that Insurance should do the same.

We all know what happened to banks and Wall Street with under the Republican "self regulation" rules and we all know what happened to the economy after Republicans let it fix itself. Will Republicans ever again be competent enough to lead or will they continue to offer nothing but bad Jokes to Americans? Are the Republican base so out of touch with reality that letting Big Insurance watch over itself is OK?
Does it seem to you that Republicans have not learned anything in the last two elections?
 
The Right's plan for all "regulation":

"We're going to put this HUGE pile of money right here. And then we're going to walk around the corner. Promise you won't touch it, OK? But if you do touch it, swear that you won't donante some of it into our campaign coffers. Deal?"

Nobody that handles other people's money should EVER be trusted. Even the Catholic Church got swindled by its own insiders. Does anyone remember Enron? Fanny and Freddy? Bernie Madoff? If you do business that involves money that entrusted to you, you need to be regulated and your books open to some level of outside authority. Roaches breed in the dark...that's why we need a lot of light!
 
How ironic that the "Right Plan" from the girl above me sounds suspiciously like Charlie Rangel's plan for filing his taxes...
