whatsapp symbian and battery life

Hey guys!

Big problem here. I'm a huge whatsapp fan, its a really convenient application (just got an updated today to send pictures / videos / audio)...
the problem is the symbian implementation.
On blackberry's and iphone's (don't know on android) the application does not always stay connected to the web, on symbian it does and it kills battery life (my n8 lasts 1 day this way instead of 2 2 and a half!)...

Is there a way to kill the process when you don't want it (it autostarts)...
Any "battery" saving advice?
I find my self installing and uninstalling it quite often!

The app doesn`t utilize Nokia push notification api (it has only just come out.) Therefore, to get messages in real time the app is always running and always connected even if you exit it and can't see it running. Obviously not ideal so hopefully they will make use of the new push notifications soon. Nokia has just recently released their push notification api so hopefully whatsapp is updated to use this.

I've got whatsapp running on my N8. It seems to stay open in the background even if you "close" the app. It's not killing my battery when I have it running like this. I'm still able to receive messages. Try "closing" the app and see what happens.

BTW: is there a task manager on Symbian because it does seem like there can be apps running in the background that aren't visible on the menu. Whatsapp and the Nokia Wellness Diary are examples...
