What's your worst programme on TV?

With you on the first two points (not the third though, I love cookery shows!). Any show revolving around a celebrity is to be avoided at all costs - nobody in their right mind should give a flying f*** what Peter / Katie / Kerry did next. There is a good reason that they are not actually acheiving anything; they have no discernable talent!

Problem is these shows are cheap to make and rate well with the Heat-reading generation. Personally I can't stand this kind of thing but enough people clearly do. A lot of people like mindless entertainment and their "idols" provide this.. unfortunately.

Decent TV shows cost a huge amount to make and advertisers like a quick return so rarely now do we let a programme "bed in" before taking it off the air if it achieves low ratings at the beginning of its run.

Even the BBC are beginning to go down this route and they don't even have to worry about advertising revenue because they have a guaranteed income.

Agreed money is the main reason that tv is full of the shows about cops on camera, selling antiques, estate agents on tv, doing up houses, public inviting bosses and other people round for a bit of dinner, US series version of nearly everything we have like supernanny, undercover boss wife swap, not to mention all the other US shows we get.

All because it's so much much less cheaper than employing writers to come up original ideas and anything involve talented actors who cost money, it's all save save save and feed the public these shows now, yeah some are ok but I do miss some gripping tv and new innovative tv like channel 4 was all about in the 90s.

I totally second this, I couldn't give a monkeys what some fictional character does or says (and it's all depressing stuff anyway), X factor type shows are stale and boring and either they change the format or axe altogether, I don't care what some zeleb has for breakfast or does all day and I can't cook so cookery shows are of no interest to me either.

I've watched 'Escape to the Country' a few times and it does make feel mildly depressed seeing big beautiful houses that I will probably never be able to afford.

That's also why I don't watch Location Location Location anymore. However, I do enjoy Homes under the Hammer (despite it's cheesy format) as I enjoy seeing grotty houses get a new lease of life for their new residents, be they tenants or owner occupiers. :)

I have previuosly mentioned the word 'depressed' in my post, which is what I feel whenever I used to watch EastEnders. :( Can't the writers make the stories a bit more upbeat to help the nation in a better mood towarRAB life? :)

Reality shows are cheap get a camera cew then follow wannabe bod everywhere then show edited version. What tripe. We've had katona, Andrea, Kaie/Jordan et al now it seems the scary spice is having go.

Can't wait for the next Bo Selecta piss takes :D

Most reality shows from the 'heady heights' of BB all the way down (and it's a long way down) to Coach Trip

I did develop a guilty pleasure a while back of watching Police Interceptors - just the right level of brain-pap for the 8pm-Friday slot after a hard week at work ;)

without doubt "corrie is without doubt my worse i only watched the first ever episode "the mining disaster" and that was that. a load of rubbish with weird accents.
