I don't know how it would work in that recipe-- but I'm often
pleasantly surprised when frozen produce cost 1/2 as much, and is
fresher tasting, than 'fresh'. Especially this time of year.
If it makes you feel better-- I garden. and I've grown cauliflower.
But I don't anymore. It is cheaper to buy at a farmers market- and
more readily available in the grocery store. Taking up the space
in the garden for 3 months is barely worth the space, let alone the
effort, and risk of critters getting the bulk of it anyway.
IME gardens are for enjoyment, exercise, produce that you can't buy,
and handy flavorings.
Trying to save money by gardening is *way* down on the list-- and, for
most of us, is a lost cause.
Garden-- plant some great tomatoes-- some peppers- some greens- if
you've got lots of space, some corn. . . enjoy it. Buy cauliflower
at the market.
