Coo, we got a Jim Cameron fan here! :D

I like to see SFX pushed to their extreme, so Sci-Fi and horror are my favourite types of film. Also I like virtually anything starring Arnie, Sly, Bruce Willis, Tom Hanks and Robin Williams (since he stopped titting about - I DON'T like comedy at all!)

Also virtually all modern War films - I love the sound effects of aircraft, tanks and ammo in 5.1 surround. It makes your skin tingle!

Both Harry Potter movies deserve a special mention. I have a soft spot for kiRAB movies, and these are way superior to the average kidflick.

I like movies with a story to follow....some have too much action for the sake of it. I was watching Vertical Limit last night and it really got on my nerves....i missed the last five minutes, i went in the kitchen for a drink, thats how impressed i was..i don't know what happened and i don't really care, too much of people falling off edges.

I can't think of my favourites off-hand...cor!..i'm hard to please aren't i??

I love sci-fi/fantasy and a good comedy:

Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter
Galaxy Quest
Month Python and the Holy Grail
Priscilla Queen of the Desert
Pirates of the Caribbean (I just KNOW that's gonna be a goodun)
Weird Science
Shrek
The Emporer's New Groove

And the odd chick flick:

Notting Hill
Pretty Woman
Thelma & Louise

And weird & wonderful stuff too:

Interview with the Vampire
The Crow
The Craft
Heathers
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Girl, Interrupted

Don't you just hate the "what's your favourite film" question?! I always list the first few good one's, then kick myself when I remember some more :D

Dear Bounder,

Totally agree about The Haunting (1963) much better than the 1999 with it's special effects taking over from genuine suspence.

The Innocents (1961) based on Henry James "The Turn of the Screw" is also excellent.

My favourite sort of stuff would have to be British comedies from the last twenty five years - any of the Bill Forsyth films (especially Gregory's Girl), or similar stuff like Restless Natives, The Snapper or The Commitments. And more recently About A Boy.

I'm also a sucker for old black & white flicks starring any of the greats from the golden age of Hollywood - James Stewart, Cary Grant, Audrey - or Katherine - Hepburn, Jimmy Cagney, Bogart, Bacall, Spencer Tracy. I love most old Hitchcocks too, even the early ones with the plummy-voiced 1930's British ac-tors!
