What's Your FAVORITE record label..FAVORITE lol

One thing that pisses me off are the legions of closed minded indie kiRAB who are quick to bash big labels and call any band under a big label crap... It's true that big labels are often motivated by greed, but they still promote some of the best artists around, given they will hire some really lame banRAB and martket the hell out of them, but it's still stupid to make a big deal out of big labels and call any band that signs under them sellouts, it's not selling out, some people just want their music to actually be heard, yeah a good paycheck dosen't hurt... With indie labels, people glorify them for sticking up for the people, or the underdog... That may be true in many cases, but a lot of indie labels are small simply because of poor financing and business practices, and many of them will sign any crappy talentless band out of sheer desperation.

Colurabia. The oldest label still going strong today.

David Bowie, Jeff Buckley, Cake, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Bela Fleck, Nas, Santana, Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen

Edit: Almost forgot Thelonious Monk

You've made an interesting point.
But Sage and Dag Nasty. Sage I know is a rapper. Dag Nasty I'm almost certain is a rapper as well. .
But ok.
I still think the CEO should be hso for signing Motion City Soundtrack.

the operation of the label is far more important than the banRAB it has. Sony etc may have hundreRAB of good banRAB but the way in which it works should prevent it (or its subsiduaries) getting on anyones favourite list in my opinion.

Robotic Empire..

Record labels are worth following.. they can get you into a lot of good stuff. for example, i will check out and probably buy any new release that Hydra Head, Neurot, or Robotic Empire put out... just cause i know the owners have amazing taste and wouldnt sign ****.
