What's your favorite animated movie of all time?

Just a general question to all, no polls as there are way too many animated movies to even list.
I have seen many animated movies but my all time favorite is Transformers : The Movie (1985).
So I am dating myself at 11 years old, but no matter what, it always comes by to the good old transformers. Sure, it is dated now, but animation was great for its time and the soundtrack was pretty cool.

We can expand and list your top five favorites. (I'll have to think of 4 more and post a revision)

Disney and WB made better animated cartoons back in the '30s and '40s. Nausicaa was released a year before the TF movie and Akira would be released only 3 years later. You can't say Transformers' animation was "great for its time" because by that time, animation had already shown how truly great it could be.

Shouldn't this thread be moved to the general discussion board?

Anyway, my favorite animated film is probably The Incredibles, due to its intense action, hilarious characters, beautiful animation, and surprisingly deep plot. It's nearly perfect. Spirited Away is also near perfection, but Miyazaki had plenty of films beforehand to refine his technique message, whereas Brad Bird had only one film and some TV work behind him when he made his masterpiece.

alright, i'll do my best...

The Lion King-This movie is truly a classic that I can watch time and time again. The characters are very much enjoyed, the music is amazing and the flow is seamless. Every time I watch this movie I almost forget how aweseme it is.

Whisper of the Heart-I think I've watched this more than any other movie recently, and its because its too damn good. This shows a side of animation that doesn't have to be all fantasy and could easily have been adapted into a live action movie. But overall, I honestly believe this is one of the most inspiring movies ever that tells you to keep going and pursue what you believe will make you happy. The song "Country Roads" has never sounded so good and once again the characters were very interesting. I think this is arguably Studio Ghibli's best film.

I will leave it these two for now and add another 3 later, but I feel I definitely had to recommend these right away.

For me, it's gotta be the Aristocats from Disney's early to prime days. Although I haven't seen it in years (I sold it at a garage sale a while ago. Why, WHY!!! Because it got you 3 bucks. Oh yeah, that's right.), I do remember it had a great plot and really funny jazz cats and such. I dunno, I guess it's pleasant nostalgia more than anything.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It totally brings the idea of Toontown to life. The idea of toons being actors was also a really cool idea.

I should see if they air Bonkers anymore.

God, so many good ones. Let's see:

1. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Still great after all these years, even in the era of CGI. The comedy and pathos still resonate. I can't wait until the next edition comes out on DVD. Hopefully more goodies come with it.

2. Lady and the Tramp. Beautiful, great story, with perhaps the most memorable romantic couple of all filmdom, with the possible exception of Scarlett and Rhett. A great odd-couple romance. And of course it has Peg, sexiest "funny animal" ever. And the fight scene between Tramp and the rat is still primally chilling.

3. Lion King. Great music, with the funniest sidekicks ever, the original Timon and Pumbaa. And Disney tops the tearjerkiest moment ever on film - the death of Bambi's mother - with the death of Simba's father, (I heard grown men sniffing in the theatre where I saw the film) then tops that with the ghost of Simba's father. Add to that the comic wisdom of Rafiki, the excellence in villiany that is Scar, and those vicious yet comical hyenas, and you get a great epic that not even Pixar has managed to match. Yet.

I know the topic is "your favorite animated movie" (singular), but for me it's a toss-up between the three noted above.

Those scenes are sad, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they're the saddest scenes in movie history. Even if we're only talking about animation as opposed to film in general, just look at Grave of the Fireflies.

Spirited Away.

At first my reaction to this question was: How in the world could I choose?

Then I remembered how easy It would be.

The Incredibles - The best story, the best animation I've ever seen in an animated flick.

2. Batman: MOTB - Everytime I look at Mystery of the Batwoman, I like it a little more. It has surpassed Phantasm with me due to the sheer quality of the product.

3. Batman: MOTP - Phantasm is a true classic and deserves its place as the new high water mark in which all animated features should be judged from this point on. A masterpiece.

4. Batman Beyond ROTJ - Pure joy. Batman Beyond was my 2nd favorite of the DCAU properties and when the DTV hit I was in Batman heaven. Bravo, gentlemen.

5. Batman/Superman Worlds Finest - Greatest team up to date. This DVD shows how brains triumphs over brawn and why Batman is one of the greatest superheroes ever.

Trying to break this thread from being just a 'list' thread... Here's my Top 5 Favorites:

1) Aladdin - seriously, I can go back to this movie as many times as I can, and it still never gets old. The comedy is spot on, the character designs are vibrant, the color selection rivals that of anime standards, and its also a showcase of how well of 3D compositing Disney did years before this technique became popular/common practice.

2) Ratatoullie - Pixar has outdone themselves again. Perhaps the best Pixar movie they've done to date. There's not much for me to say about this film, but to go see it if you haven't already yet.

3) Wallace & Gromit Meet the Were-Rabbit - I haven't seen an animated movie that could match the general humor that comes from this classic. On top of that, Wallace & Gromit is an example of quality stop motion, and shows that it can do well on the silver screen.

4) Beavis & Butt-head Do America - another movie that isn't painful to go back to. This may probably be the project that put Mike Judge's characters to justice.

5) My Neighbor Totoro - Definitely my first favorite Miyazaki directed movie (followed by Lupin - Castle of Cagliostro). This cartoon is most definitely warm at heart and does the whole slice-of-life genre to justice.

Honorable Mention) One Piece Movie 6 - there's something stylistic and appealing about this movie. While the movie may be lacking in the action department, it still captures the wackiness the series is well known and loved for. The minigames during the film are quite upbeat and fun to watch, and the battle at the end does a marvelous job of displaying Luffy's compassion towards his crew.

I was big on the Charlie Brown movies when I was a kid. I kinda wished the networks didn't just air Bon Voyage Charlie Brown every Thanksgiving.

These days, though, I like Hayao Miyazaki and Satoshi Kon films. Nausicaa was amazing, and Tokyo Godfathers was warmly comical.

For me,it's either The Last Unicorn or Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas....I honestly can't decide...

The Last Unicorn ....I love the animation (I think I remember hearing some of the animators on this went on to form Studio Ghibli),voice acting (esp. Christopher Lee's King Haggard and Angela Lansbury's Mommy Fortuna),and songs...

Plus this is the first animated film I remember seeing that had a bittersweet ending rather than a "happily ever after"....and it has some of my favorite lines from any movie, animated or otherwise....

"There are no happy endings, because nothing ends"

"Don't look back, and don't run...You must never run from anything immortal,it attracts their attention"

"Oh,she'll kill me one way or another...but she will remember that I caught her,and I held her prisoner....so there's MY immortality,eh?"

The Nightmare Before Christmas .... I love the music and lyrics, the awesome looking stop-motion animation (and I'm not a big fan of the medium, since usually,it looks really choppy/unnatural...Here,it looks great),and Jack Skellington is easily one of my favorite Disney characters (I love his enthusiasm for celebrating Christmas, even though he ends up doing it all wrong when he tries taking over for Santa)...

Tarzan - Last 2d animated movie I saw in theaters. Amazing.
Pocahontas - First Disney movie I saw in theaters. The music and emotion... it just fantastic.
Aladdin - Gets better every time I see it.
Beauty and the Beast - Didn't get nominated for 'best picture' for nothing.
The Lion King - Do I have to explain this?
The Little Mermaid - Great love story, great music, great animation.
Sleeping Beauty - That dragon scared the hell out of me!
Mulan - Just a brilliant story, with fantastic animation (the avalanche scene), and a great soundtrack.
Snow White - The first animated feature film still holds up to this day.
