What's your favorite action cartoon of all time?

My favorite is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles followed by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Those two will almost likely be followed by the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle series.

After them, I'd say the entire DCAU, but mostly B:TAS in particular.

Well action wise I can say 2003 Clone wars. That was pure action.:D
Ok, alot more then less.

Say, aside from the story, was there any cool memorieable action scenes in it?
I can't seem to think of any. :(

You stole my answer. ;)

There's the first episode with the attack on the castle, "The Edge" was all about Xanatos fighting the Gargoyles claw to robot hands, "The Gathering" two parter had awesome fights against Oberon by pretty much all of the supporting cast, etc.

I could count the Demona/Elisa fight from High Noon but that was memorable for a different reason. ;)

Extremely surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet, Avatar: The Last Airbender. It has great action, excellent characters, and is extremely well-written. Also, Batman: The Brave and the Bold is pretty fun.

Action cartoons are also my favorite genre of animation, ABrown.

Anyway, it'll be hard for me to pick out my top three favorite action cartoons, since I like a lot of them. However, if I had to pick, I guess I'll go with, in no certain order, Beast Wars, Digimon (Especially seasons 1 and 3), and Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z. I'll also rank Transformers Animated and Teen Titans as honorable mentions.

Anime aside I would have to go with X-Men: The Animated Series, when I was in my teens this show was my main priority when it came to Saturday mornings and any episode that was released on VHS I made sure I owned, heck, it even got me into the X-Men comic books in a day when all I read was Superman, Spider-Man and Batman. I taped as many episodes as I could and I even went through old movies and took some that I didn't watch anymore and did the little trick that allowed you to tape over them just so I could archive the show, in a nutshell I was totally obsessed with the show. Except for when I was a kid and I loved the original TMNT cartoon to death I cannot think of any other show that made me feel this way, so without a doubt I would consider it to be my favorite action cartoon of all time, I'm sure if some of the current cartoons were not as available as they are today then I may feel different (DVD, online viewing) but because taping X-Men was my only option to own it (except for a couple episodes on VHS) I would say that I was more obsessed with this series than any other in history.

Avatar
Spectacular Spider-Man
The Batman

These are three shows that had the most elaborate and original action sequences i saw so far.

Everything else (including every show mentioned here) look like an old hat today or simply as a re-hash of the same tricks (which of course doesn't mean it's a bad show, it's just "okay" or worse in terms of action).

ReBoot. Its just so clever and well written. The art style and character design is fantastic, IMO its setting is perfect for CGI, which is why I think its still one of the best looking tv shows ever done in CGI. It has great action and comedy, and really good character development.
Beast Wars and X-Men:TAS are also high up on my list. One thing I'd like to point out is that all three shows share something in common, great writing.

Batman: TAS have the best stories of any action cartoon, but Dragonball Z have the best action, so for me it's a tie between those two.

I mentioned earlier my love for X-Men: The Animated Series and how I went to great lengths to ensure I had the series on tape and that I got to watch it every Saturday morning, but I failed to mention how I was the same way for the orignal Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the late 80's. I think my love with the original TMNT was more based on the action figures and the merchandise more so than the show, but I still made sure I watched the program each week and that I knew everything that was going on so I could replicate the action with my TMNT toys, I absolutely loved everything that had to do with Ninja Turtles.
