whats your fav scary movie

is it really scarey??

The ring gets me every time. after 1st time i watched it i couldn't go about the house in the dark.

The nightmare on elm streets were terrifying to me when i was younger

I didn't think Hostel Part II was as good as the first Hostel by a long way.

I like the Saw films; I really enjoyed the last one.

The majority choices on here of the films were made in either the 60's, 70's and 80's. It goes to show that Hollywood don't produce excellent horror movies like they used to all those years back. Sad really!

Fav ever scary movie is Halloween even though it never scared me in the slightest (But I did see a couple of sequels beforehand).

It was a very basic story but it was and is a masterclass in directing and gave the world a great actress and 3 excellent characters.

I'd agree with what others have said on the thread. The Shining.
The Omen trilogy always gave me the willies when I was a kid.
The original Halloween was good, Alien also.
Some of the Cronenberg movies like Scanners and Videodrome.

But, there's one film I remember seeing on Video years ago, which I've never seen since - The Sentinel. This was a Michael Winner film and is probably a load of rubbish, but it certainly had an affect on me when I was a teenager.

It's strange that you mention The Sentinel.

It is the one movie that is difficult to get a copy of anywhere.

But like you say, it was an evil, horrible film which really scared the living daylights out of me.

but was funny when the girl{the devil} was talking fithy things about the priests mother lol and when it was stabbing a cross in the girls downstairs and saying Let jesus F k you :D. i hope no ones religous here as i am taliking about the exorsist :D

The fact is scary movies arent 'scary'. sure it helps if you turn the lights off and watch them alone but you know someone is going to get hacked up, multilated then killed so your just waiting for it to happen so there's little shock factor when it does.

For me, best horror movie by FAR is Nightbreed. Not scary as such, but very cool having a movie where basically the humans are the bad guys. Good book, too.

Signs was scary when I first saw it, but now I know whats going to happen and when its totally not scary anymore. Pretty much anything with Alien Abduction freaks me out to be honest. Fire in the Sky brought me to a state of near-panic when I watched it for the first time when it was released. :D

Gory movies don't scare me in the least though, someone throwing ketchup around and pretending to hack someone up with a machete? May as well watch pro wrestling. :D
